Blogging From A to Z Challenge – I

Intracoastal Waterway of Palm Beach

“I” is for Intracoastal Waterway, a 3,000 mile waterway along the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coasts in the United States.

I took an impromptu trip to West Palm Beach last week to visit friends and had a wonderful time! Unfortunately, their Internet wasn’t playing nice with Apple products; only one Android device would work, so I got behind on my A to Z Challenge. This post will get me current and I can start thinking/working on the letter J!

This photo was taken from the balcony of the condo on the eleventh floor; how’s that for a view? This area with the boats is the Intracoastal Waterway, separated by a thin strip of land, and the ocean is beyond.

I snapped this picture late in the day and love the pink and orange cast that the sun paints in the sky. Sunsets are some of my favorite photos; so relaxing that you can almost feel the breeze…

Garage

I’m not a person who has people tell me things in a parking garage. ~ Bill Dedman

“G” is for garage; in this case a parking garage.

During a trip to Pittsburgh I took this photo of the garage that we were parking in. Like most big cities, parking is at a premium and the city planners utilize these vertical buildings to save on space.

While it makes sense, there’s something about parking garages that I don’t like. No matter what level you’re on it feels like the basement. Because of the open air construction, they take on the outside temperatures, so they can be very cold or hot and stuffy. The lighting is poor and it always feels like dusk. Although I don’t suffer from claustrophobia, there’s a feeling of the walls closing in.

There’s also a perception that parking garages are the perfect place to commit a crime. How many television shows have scenes of violence occurring in these very structures?

Speaking of television, maybe my distaste for them goes back to the Seinfeld episode about the parking garage, when Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer spend hours searching for their car, because they’ve forgotten where they parked. The story doesn’t end well. A dead goldfish, fines for public urination, and humanity’s lack of…well, humanity, all make me a fan of street parking whenever possible!

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.

“F” is for frogs and not all of them are slimy and gross!

This little gem greeted us near the front door to Tharoo & Company Jewelry Boutique located at Pointe Orlando on International Drive in Orlando, FL. My daughter lives very near, so we often go there to walk around and grab a bite to eat.

Who could resist that winning smile, lovely feet, and his offer of beautiful red flowers? When I asked, he politely agreed to pose for a picture. However, he informed us that no kisses are allowed, as he is already spoken for, and that princes only exist in fairy tales.
