The Squares Challenge | Autumn Canopy

Life of B – Squares Photo Challenge – #TreeSquare

This photo was taken during the height of fall foliage in western Pennsylvania. It’s my favorite time to walk in our local park with comfortable temperatures and the (mostly) absence of bugs.

Sitting on a bench I discovered an opportunity for a great photo. Tree branches often remind me of arms. These arms seem to be presenting a bouquet of orange “flowers” to the sky above, while providing a canopy of glorious color to the earth below.

And the view from both perspectives is lovely.

The Squares Challenge | Christmas in July

Some of the most magnificent palm trees I’ve ever seen are located at The Mall at Millenia in Orlando, FL. They are absolutely HUGE with gorgeous fronds!

This photo was taken a few years back while visiting family. For those of us living in cold climates, the superimposed image of majestic palm trees over a decorated Christmas tree seems like a contradiction. When you associate palm trees with summer vacation and Christmas trees with snowy landscapes they appear to be an odd couple.

But, people everywhere celebrate the birth of Christ…in boots, flip-flops, and everything in between.

I thought this shot would be a fun “Christmas in July” post for our #TreeSquare Photo Challenge. No worries though, there’s still 165 shopping days left… 😉

There’s nothing like a walk at sunset to calm a busy mind. Busy from all the day’s activities that endlessly fill our thoughts: work, school, home, errands, etc. It seems like the To-Do list never shortens.

On really hectic days it’s difficult to unplug. But, not impossible. The ability to unwind is necessary for a healthy mind/body connection. Being in nature helps us de-stress and activates the senses: the sight of a beautiful sky, the sound of birdsongs, and the sweet smell of fresh air. Exercise lowers the blood pressure and promotes better sleep.

Need more convincing to take that walk? Here are 11 scientific reasons  why you should.

And you’ll probably see a few amazing trees along the way!
