The Squares Challenge | Winter Trees

The Life of B – Squares Photo Challenge – #TreeSquare

A bit of snow to cool a hot, muggy day.

This monochromatic picture resembles my mood throughout most of the winter season. I prefer the warmth of summer and crisp autumn leaves to frigid temperatures and soggy grounds.

Tire tracks remind us that despite icy conditions, people still venture out to enjoy the local park. Glowing yellow lights from the building offer a pop of color in an otherwise drab colored scene.

However, tree limbs dusted with sparkling snowflakes are so pretty! It’s as if they’ve donned white garments to protect against the cold. Beautiful in all seasons, trees offer so much. It’s hard to imagine the landscape without them!

The Squares Challenge | Trees at Sunset

Here’s a winter shot from several years back. The sky was an incredible array of deep orange and yellow hues as the sun set over our local park.

The tree branches remind me of gnarled arms and hands, perhaps reaching for the warmth of the sun on this frigid January evening?

The Squares Challenge | Autumn Canopy

Life of B – Squares Photo Challenge – #TreeSquare

This photo was taken during the height of fall foliage in western Pennsylvania. It’s my favorite time to walk in our local park with comfortable temperatures and the (mostly) absence of bugs.

Sitting on a bench I discovered an opportunity for a great photo. Tree branches often remind me of arms. These arms seem to be presenting a bouquet of orange “flowers” to the sky above, while providing a canopy of glorious color to the earth below.

And the view from both perspectives is lovely.

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
