“No one lights a lamp in order to hide it behind the door: the purpose of light is to create more light, to open people’s eyes, to reveal the marvels around.” ― Paulo Coelho

“If light is in your heart, you will find your way home.” Rumi
Kudos to BeckyB for creating this wonderful photo challenge. I just signed on to join the group and look forward to browsing my archives for appropriate entries. I’ll be looking for daily opportunities, as well. It will help reinvigorate the photography part of my blog and allow me to take a stroll down memory lane!
Speaking of invigorating a blog, what better way to inspire one’s writing chops than through stunning photography? After all:
“A picture is worth 1000 words.” ~Fred Barnard
Light as the subject matter offers so many choices: 50+ words ending with light in the English language alone!
I’m thinking of all the times I’ve stopped to admire a scene that contained, to some degree, a light source. Rainbows, rocket launches, Christmas decorations, sunrises, sunsets…the choices are endless.
Without light we wouldn’t see anything. But, I’m talking about how light enhances the subject matter. A lighthouse at the ocean’s edge is made more picturesque if a vibrant sunrise serves as the backdrop. An ornately decorated room is further beautified by elegant illumination. The lights of the carousel above contrast nicely against the darkness of a summer night.
As an iPhone user my camera is always with me and I’m usually on the lookout for a good shot. Photo challenges raise awareness of one’s surroundings for amateur photogs like myself.
I look forward to sharing my best captures with the group and admiring what you all have to offer! Cheers to a month of gorgeous light in all it’s many forms!
