Flower of the Day Challenge | Daffodils

Cee’s Flower of the Day Photo Challenge

Here’s a close up photo of some lovely white daffodils I found on an early spring walk. Notice the interloper hiding in the flower of the left.

There are 40 – 200 different daffodil species, subspecies, or variety of species, depending on what botanist you talk to. They are reliable perennials, which should return each year with additional blooms. Daffodils are a great choice for beginner gardeners and under good growing conditions should outlast you!

Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals. Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock. ~ Henry Ward Beecher, Star Papers: A Discourse of Flowers
