“Find beauty not only in the thing itself but in the pattern of the shadows, the light and dark which that thing provides.” ~Junichiro Tanizaki

For me, the crossover that joins the street side to the beach is a thing of beauty.

Leaving behind the hustle bustle of the outside world in favor of a peaceful stretch of sand and ocean is absolute heaven. Crowded beaches aside, I prefer off-season when only the locals are around. Armed with a chair and book the crossover is my bridge to a place that allows me to stop thinking and start dreaming.

Spotlight

While not as clear as I’d hoped, this is a picture of Old Main on the campus of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania (USA).

The spotlight created some dramatic and shadowy effects. Taken on a cloudy night several years ago, the the moon was obscured and only a few small stars were visible. This contributed to the stark contrast between light and dark.
