January Light Photo Challenge | Day 12

“So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness.” – Sidney Poitier

Docklight

Have you ever scrolled through your camera roll and wondered why in the world you took certain photos?

Well, after participating in various photo challenges, I realized that seemingly random images could come in handy. This encouraged me to be more observant of my surroundings and notice mundane things.

I’ve also found inspiration for blog posts in some of these captures and occasionally turn them into quote memes with my Word Swag app.

Therefore, I think it’s safe to assume that there’s always the potential for creativity in randomness. Because it’s not about the picture itself, but the interpretation!

Daylight

Taken in 2011 in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, this photo was one of a series of early morning shots that captured the rising sun. I had just taken a photography course and was eager to try out what I’d learned. Unfortunately, my camera was sub-par and I didn’t own an iPhone yet.

However, it sharpened my observation skills and I did get some decent captures during the “golden hour” that morning on the beach.

While the rising sun was still a tiny orb over the horizon, I focused on this sandcastle. With the tiny toy soldier, his rifle raised in victory, atop the turret and the seagulls gliding low over the water it made for a nice picture.
