Today is the first day of October Squares, a fun photo challenge from Becky over at The Life of B.

This year she’s celebrating the past four years of Squares and opening up all the previous topics with the tag #PastSquares. Click on the link above for more details.

There’s a multitude of ways to participate, so if you enjoy taking photos (and have more on your camera roll than you know what to do with) give it a try! You don’t have to be a pro…just someone who delights in photography of all persuasions.

The fun part is seeing how different photographers interpret the prompts, just as we do in writing. The old saying about pictures being worth a thousand words is quite true for me. They’ve always been an endless source of ideas for writing topics.

The photo above was captured in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was taking a photography class for my college coursework and wanted to illustrate the perspective of looking up. I thought this glass tower, with the reflection of its neighbor on the side, fulfilled that goal nicely. Since the top of the buildings are in view it fits with the past theme that I’ve chosen for today.
